The Root Cause: Jet Erosion Corrosion
QTA’s analysis and research identified the root cause of the corrosion: direct impingement of jet exhaust on the aft surfaces of the Thrust Reverser Doors and Side Beams.This impingement occurs in line with the lobes of the internal exhaust mixer nozzle. The result is high-velocity, elevated-temperature gas flow striking the aft thrust reverser surfaces.Over time, that exhaust exposure creates what QTA identifies as Jet Erosion Corrosion.

The QTA Permanent Solution
QTA’s Permanent Solution is unique because it remanufactures the original thrust reverser door rather than simply replacing it.
The original TR Door is a one-piece forging manufactured from 2219 aluminum. QTA removes the vulnerable aluminum in the corroded area and replaces it with newly formed Titanium parts engineered specifically for the thrust reverser environment.
For the Side Beams, QTA mechanically fastens a thin Titanium protective skin over the affected aluminum structure, shielding it from continued jet exhaust exposure.
The upgrade is engineered to preserve the thrust reverser’s original inner mold line and exit area, ensuring there is no impact on engine performance.
This is not a field patch.
